Here's The Skinny!

"Commitment is a line you cross....it's the difference between wishing and doing."

I have to be honest. I am sick of dieting.  I do not think I can count one more "point" or eat all pre-packaged meal.  I want to stop thinking about it and get on with my life.  People who are "naturally" skinny do not obsess about every bite that goes into their mouth.  That is not to say that they do not watch what they eat or exercise.  On the contrary, I believe (and seen) that they do care...it just comes more naturally.  I have a friend who is thin.  She will eat like there is no tomorrow, and then the next day she will eat less.  Not because she feels guilty, she is just not as hungry.  So, what is your experience?  Are you naturally thin?  Tell me about you.  Are you overweight, what is your story?

My grandfather used to tell my aunt, if you want to lose weight, it is not rocket science.  (My grandfather was a naturally thin person.)  He told her, "eat less, exercise and drink lots of water."  Hmmm...sounds simple enough.  I have decided I am going to try it.  Now, when my grandfather was growing up, there was no such thing as fast food or mass produced food in the grocery store.  That is why I have decided to add to his theory for today's "100 calorie" packed world.  There are two books that I have found amazing, The Full Plate Diet: Slim Down, Look Great, Be Healthy!and Food Rules: An Eater's Manual.  Both of these books are EXCELLENT.  Do not let the titles fool you, neither of these books are "diet" books in the normal sense.  They are about eating healthy in today's world.  They are full of knowledge.  If I could only choose one, I would pick, Food Rules: An Eater's Manual.  It is a very fast read...maybe an hour.  It will also make you smile....a book about health that will make you SMILE!!!!!

So, that is what I am going to do.  I also, for the first three months (maybe more, if needed) write everything down in a journal.  I will also keep a note of everything on this blog.  I could use your encouragement.  And when I slip (I am human and realistic) I will  need all of you to tell me to get back in line!

I have looked at many journals at book stores and online.  I have liked many, but LOVED none.  They always seem to be missing something.  I have decided to "make" my own.  I have a good idea what I need, but I want your input!  What would be on a great, LOVED healthy eating journal????  Please share!

ONE more thing.  I am not going to weigh myself.  I find it brings me down or makes me feel like I am a slave to the numbers.  Instead I am going to pick out an out fit that is too small.  (I will poat a picture!)  When it fits, then I will know I lost.  After, I will pick another outfit as a new "goal" to achieve.  I will also be taking pictures of myself every week.  Lord knows, pictures do not lie.  My goal is not to be bone thin.  I want to be happy.  I want to be healthy.  I want to look in the mirror and say, "Damn, I look good!" ;-)

Okay, enough talking and planning...Let's get going!
